DETAILS & F.A.Q.
ACTING HEADSHOT PHILOSOPHY. Portraiture, not caricature. Look like working actors, not an actor desperately seeking work. My most beautiful photographs come from adhering to this philosophy. For new talent, I don’t want you to look like new talent. I want you to look like talent. Shoot for your long game.
STUDIO. I have a beautiful natural light studio in with studio lighting when needed/wanted. This gives you the benefit of both worlds. It also has a bathroom, changing area, and makeup station. It is fully air-conditioned and heated. I shoot on location for editorial and lifestyle jobs.
DEPOSIT POLICY: Cancelations are extremely difficult for our schedules. There's a 3 business day cancellation policy. Business days are Monday through Friday. We ask that you book yourself out in advance with your agents, managers, or anything else that may potentially conflict with your shoot.
LOOKS. A look is a change of wardrobe, or a change of hair/makeup.
DETERMINING WARDROBE & LOOKS: If you need help, I offer a pre-shoot wardrobe consultation via zoom, facetime or in-studio. If you need more help via a professional wardrobe stylist, some our our clients use Image By Buckley. You can contact her through her website at imagebybuckley.com. Make sure to tell her that Kenneth Dolin Photography sent you so you get special treatment and extra care.
EXTREME LOOKS. For acting headshot clients, if you want to wear a lab coat to show you can play a doctor, please don’t. You’ll look desperate. Be your best YOU.
MODELING PORTFOLIOS I can do a few 3/4 and full body shots during a headshot shoot, but modeling portfolio shots are booked separately.
SHOOT VIBE. I’m part clown, part coach, part director and part provocateur. Prepare to be challenged. Prepare to be empowered. Prepare to laugh. Prepare to be caught off balance. Prepare to play hard. Prepare to work hard. Mostly, just prepare.
TRADES OR DISCOUNTS. Never. Please please don't ask.
SESSION LENGTH. Sessions go anywhere from 1.5 hours all the way up to 3 hours. We stop when we have gotten it right.
YOU ARE MY ONLY FOCUS: I will never have another client here on your shoot. I value being fully invested in each client’s shoot.
GUESTS: No extra guests please hair/makeup only, on one parent if under 18.
BTS: No bts shooting, please.
GETTING IN SOONER. You’re welcome to be on our cancellation waiting list and we’ll call you in the event of a cancellation.
IMAGE DELIVERY: You will receive a password protected online gallery with cloud storage and digital download within 5 business days of your shoot, often sooner. Your gallery will contain UNRETOUCHED images measuring 1024 x 1536 pixels. As these initial images are unretouched we suggest that you limit usage. For social media posts, personal websites, and press, we recommend high-resolution retouched photos. The price is $35 per image and takes approximately 1 week to complete with Kenneth overseeing the entire process.
RELEASE OF HIGH RES OR RAW FILES: Please note that Kenneth Dolin Photography owns the raw files and they are not released without retouching. I am very strict on this policy as I do not want a potentially amazing photo to be less than great because it wasn’t finished.
RETOUCHING: If you don’t retouch, you are not getting a finished image. Retouching is vital. I don't allow my work to be retouched by anyone other than myself or my team. And again, do not release RAW or high res files unretouched.
USAGE. Images are released for personal use on casting sites, printed headshots, your website, post cares, IMDB, etc. Contact re: publication (either online of print) as we retain copyright. We release web usage images. Please note that we do not release RAW or unedited images.
ARCHIVING. I archive your images. But you should download and save your session as you are responsible for saving your files.
HAIR AND MAKEUP. I strongly recommend that my female clients have hair/makeup. Remember, our makeup artists work for you, so don’t be afraid to direct them. I will never shoot a without you giving your approval. For male clients, makeup and hair is not always necessary. You are welcome to do your own hair and makeup. Some clients know what works and have the skills to rock it.
BRINGING YOUR OWN MAKEUP ARTIST. You are welcome to bring your own hair and makeup artist with my approval. If you do you must arrive hair/makeup ready for your first look but your MUA is welcome to come with you for touch-ups and transitions into different looks.
